Lake Blue Ridge and the Toccoa River

Two bodies of water shape a Blue Ridge trip. Lake Blue Ridge sits fifteen minutes from the cabin with a marina for boats and paddleboards. The Toccoa River runs through the valley below town, crossed by a swinging bridge and followed by the scenic railway.

Lake Blue Ridge Marina

Rent a pontoon for the group or kayaks and paddleboards for the adventurous. The lake is deep, clear and ringed by national forest, so it stays quiet even on summer weekends.

Toccoa River Swinging Bridge

An easy river walk leads to one of the longest suspension footbridges east of the Mississippi. Good for all ages and a reliable photo stop.

Blue Ridge Scenic Railway

The historic train leaves from downtown and follows the river to the twin towns of McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee, where you can stand with a foot in each state. Check the seasonal schedule.

Back at the cabin

Rinse off in the covered hot tub, then dinner on the deck. The porch bar and grill are set up for exactly this kind of day.
