Things to do in Blue Ridge with a big group

Blue Ridge is one of those places that instantly slows you down, in a good way. It's a small mountain town with a surprisingly great food scene, a historic railway that still rumbles along the Toccoa River, and sunsets that feel too pretty for how easy they are to reach. Here's how we'd plan a group weekend from the cabin.

Morning: orchard run

Start at Mercier Orchards, about fifteen minutes from the cabin. Grab fried pies and cider donuts for the crowd, let the kids loose in the market, and pick fruit if it's in season. Bring the haul back for breakfast on the covered deck.

Midday: pick a waterfall

Fall Branch Falls is the easy win for mixed ages: a short, well-marked climb to a two-tier fall. Long Creek Falls is a bit longer and quieter. Aska Trails has options for the mountain bikers in your group.

Afternoon: downtown

Split up. Shoppers hit the boutiques and galleries on East Main, the beer crowd heads to Misty Mountain Hops, and someone stands in line at Rum Cake Lady for Cuban sandwiches to bring back.

Evening: stay home

This is the point of a house like ours. Pickleball tournament until the light goes, grill on the deck, then the fire pit under the string lights. Rainy night? The game room has a pool table, foosball, air hockey, NBA Jam and Pac-Man.
